CreateMutex makes a CriticalSection?

Hi,

Does anyone know why the createMutex() function actually creates a Critical Section instead of a Mutex on the Windows platform? See winMutex.cc to see what I mean. The Mac platform uses an actual mutex, but Windows does not...
