Player messed up in 1st person view.

I just bought the Ava pack, which is designed for TGE 1.4, for use in TGE 1.5.
When I switch to 1st person view, from above the player looks correct; but if I use the mouse to position myself behind her, it's like I'm "in her head", and can see disjointed pieces of hair and arms.
It must have to do with where the camera is situated relative to the player, but I'm not sure how to adjust it.
Thanks for any assistance,
Michael Rogers

In the Tutorial Mission (with the blue robot), in 3rd person POV I am just behind the robot's back, and as I run, I can see the robot. With Ava, I can pivot around a point that appears to be inside her body -- so when I'm above her she looks fine, and when I'm beneath her she looks fine; but in between, I'm "inside her body".
Its as if the camera needs to be offset a foot backwards.
Any assistance would be greatfully appreciated.

I'm sorry, I misspoke -- I'm apparently in 3rd person POV, at least echo($firstperson); gives me 0.
