Search options

Hi,

Google is awesome, but one should be able to search in a subset of the site, like a specific forum or forum group.

Try looking for 'gravity' in torque x... ;)

Cheers,
Ira

I agree, I think the forum search tool could accommodate more functionality. My first experience with using the forums was a bit overwhelming, as my searches returned far too many results, even with booleans. I think these forums could do much more to reduce the time it takes for new Torque users to get orientated. I think the forums will become increasingly difficult to use with the growing number of resources and product versions.

In particular I'd like to see added to resources:
- a product label that posters can apply to their resources (i.e. "TGE", "TGB","Future super duper Garage Games product" etc.);
- a version compatibility label that posters can apply to their resources (i.e. "< v1.4","v1.4","v1.5." compatible);

And then added to the search tool:
- restrict search to posts within a date posted range (i.e. last 6 months); and
- restrict search to a particular product compatible version label (i.e. v1.5 resources only); and
- restrict search to a particular product (i.e. I'm a TGE owner);

Those three features together would let me easily find new resources for version TGE 1.5, and get me contributing faster! :-)

It's hell searching garagegames anymore since it has grown. There are very few search options. I would like to have the option of searching code without pulling up a million pages of damn plans, or searching plans without pulling up a million pages of damn code. There are also official documentation pages that are damn near impossible to find anymore, since there is not a link to them ANYWHERE..
