Audio Anomolies

I have a Soundblaster Audigy sound card.
When playing in third-person mode the player's sounds are treated as 3d sounds relative to the camera.
For example: Running in game normally makes those crunchy footstep sounds. On my system (I don't believe this happened on my old system) it will change volume depending on which direction you are looking.
Looking straight down and running produces a very low volume footstep, while looking up will nearly blow out my speakers on a very low volume setting.
I love third-person view, and plan on it being a key part of the project I'm working on.
Anyone have an idea on what might be causing this?

Only gripe is when you are looking straight up, it muffles the sound a bit. It used to almost blow out my speakers, so I guess that's a decent trade-off.

I reinstalled my sound drivers and it seems to have fixed it.Only gripe is when you are looking straight up, it muffles the sound a bit. It used to almost blow out my speakers, so I guess that's a decent trade-off.
