Here's the first screen from my project using Torque Game Builder, it's my first true game, with the help of a friend for some of the graphics. This game is codenamed Project W for now :

It's an action-platform game, with some oldschool feeling, but also with some fresh ideas of mine ^_^

Thanks for the kind word Matt ^^
I still have the trembling camera issue in 1.5, can I send a mini demo for someone at GG that could take a look at the issue ?

Are you talking about the shake with the camera mounted to the player? I have that problem as well. If I remember correctly it has to do with camera being set to the player's position from the previous tick. I thought that someone had said that it had been fixed for 1.5 Beta 3 but alas, it persists. I'm sure it will be in the next release.

Yeah, it sounds like what I encountered. I first thought that it was caused by the player sprite but it was the camera.

That looks great. It's good to see someone pushing the TGB engine a bit with a graphically intense title like this.

For those who may be in Paris between the 21th and the 23th of September, there will be the Video Game Festival (url) and Project W will be playable in the Relite stand, and maybe I'll do a presentation of it myself \o/
(with most of the gameplay features in... unless a certain camera bug isn't taken care of quickly)

Back from the festival ;)

A demo would be *fantastic*!

Thanks, I'm working on it ^^
But unfortunately I'm still waiting after GG about the camera issue. So nothing can be released until then.

Don't let me get your hopes up, but I mount the camera to a player in my current project and he moves around, and the camera is just fine. Perhaps the problem is fixed? Check out TGB 1.7.

I did try, 1.7 is just the same as 1.6 except for the polygon and mounting editors.

Here's a little video that I made in November (under TGB 1.1.3, don't mind the sometimes strange collisions), it represent pretty much the actual gameplay state of the game except for some tunning and bug correction.

Right now the development is paused until the next TGB patch, hopefully not for long ^^

You said elsewhere that you are abandoning this project, Benjamin? You must at least release a demo to the TGB community, man! I've been dying to play this game for years.

I suppose I can, the last really playable version is veryyyy old, and wont run perfectly on any hardware. But I suppose it is still a good show off of both the abilities of TGB and myself.

One of the reason behind the stopping, is because I didn't got any new or updated arts since almost an entire year (and... anyway... I never got to have the graphical style I envisioned to begin with). The graphics were simply too hard to make at a sufficient quality (and I wasn't able to make the hard part (characters animation) by myself). I didn't maintain a good control on it, and the result was not good: Uninspired and uninspiring.
The gameplay suffered greatly from it. It was going nowhere really original or good beside the fact that the code was running well (hum... not so well in fact, it runs terrible on some PCs and versions of TGB, too many big textures in there). This is simply not how it should be.

It's a project I should have stopped more early, but I just couldn't let go (being a situation were it was painful both for stopping or keeping going). It was either trying to take another 1 or 2 complete years, literally trying to redo everything, or directly starting a new and better designed game that would take less time to be good.

I have to admit, it's a situation I was already in when Melv came to fix the TGB issues.
But at least I'm glad this project somehow helped TGB.

As for myself, I'm far from stopping game making. Now I have much more experience with TGB and TorqueScripting, and I will come back to my old habit of working alone for 80% of the project time (and bringing some help only till the end). It seems its the only way for me to keep the quality bar higher enough. Hopefully you will hear from me soon ^^

Sad news Benjamin, but it is a good move to start fresh sometimes. With what you've learned from this project you'll be able to create something doubly kick ass.

Sad news indeed. Given that we are working on an action title ourselves, I had watched Ice Wolf with great anticipation. Hope you manage to pick yourself up from it all and use your skills to make something even greater in the future.
