Modeling a loop

Hi all,
Well Im trying to model a loop(for a car to drive on .dif). Ive made one in Cshop. I did this by carving cylinders in half after hollowing then skewing them. Now this works but the texture mapping is completely wacked and Im just not happy with it. I am looking for a better way. I also tried using the corkscwer spline in max and using the GLB to export to map but the loop tends to bank the wrong way. So that renders my texturing options in max useless.
Like I said Ive managed to make the loop a few different ways but the problem is that Cshops texturing options kinda suck and in Max I just cannot seem to make a loop that will actually export to map because of geometry.
Can some one offer me any tips or fresh Ideas on how to model a loop that will allow me to have some decent texture mapping ? I just wonder if I am approaching this the wrong way.
Thanks in advance.

Wow I ve been trying hammer with less than great results. I will try Quark that look is exactly what I am trying to do but its quite tedious in hammer and cshop to get everything the way I want. Thanks for the enlightenment!!

Thanks again for the tips!
Results after a little practice and a few tries. Texture can be strange but the results are much better and faster than In the other model programs I was using.

Slowly starting to like Quark :)

I managed to get a quick loop (not great but hey it was a lot more easy to do)Quark will take some practice but its not to bad. Just a bit strange feel to the interface. I cant decide if I love it or hate it yet. Thanks again for the tips!
