Grid disappears in TGB level editor

Hi,
I'm a TGB newcomer, and I'm very pleased with the product as a whole so far. However, I've encountered one particular problem in the Level Editor, and I wonder if anyone can help me.
I was happily using the Level Editor for a couple of hours, trying to learn my way around it, when I changed the "Design Resolution" (in Grid Settings, in the Level Editor options) from 800x600 (the default) to 1024x768. Immediately after I clicked OK, the background in the Level Editor went black, the grid lines became invisible, and the "camera" rectangle also disappeared.
I tried changing that setting (Design Resolution) back to 800x600, but that had no effect. I also tried quitting and restarting TGB; again no effect - the Level Editor background stays totally black. The "Show Grid" checkbox is checked in "Grid Settings", and changing "Grid Color" has no effect. I should probably mention that I've simply used the GUI to make these changes via the Preferences option on the Edit menu in TGB - I've not attempted any "hand edits" of prefs.cs or any other such file.
Apart from now having a black background, the Level Editor appears to be fully functional, and sprites are still visible over the black background. However, it's a bit of a handycap not being able to see the grid or the "camera" rectangle.
I'm running TGB Pro 1.1.3 on a Celeron laptop with Intel graphics chipset, using the D3D display driver (I tried the OpenGL one too, but that made no difference - still a black background). The laptop is running Windows XP Professional.
Any ideas anyone?

If you go into Edit/Preferences/Level Editor, and change the Design Resolution there, you can change it without getting the black screen. Reinstalling TGB will fix the app for you as well. Hope this helps! :-)

That should give me the info I need to log it into our bug repo to be fixed :)

Thank you for posting your issues... I'm having a hard time trying to reproduce this error on my machine though. Could you re-install and repeat the Design Resolution change to make it go black, then quit the level builder. Once you quit the level builder a new console.log file should generate shortly after (in the same directory as the TGB.exe) could you post that here or e-mail it to me at:mattl (AT) garagegames (DOT) com

Let me go back to working and I'll keep my eye on it. It could be some combination of having a level open, then putting TGB in the background while it loads the level at the new resolution.

Now I can't get it to reproduce either, even though it happened to me three times yesterday, on two different computers!Let me go back to working and I'll keep my eye on it. By the way, I've always set the design resolution from the Level Editor tab in Edit/Preferences as GamerGirl suggested (I didn't know there was any other way, apart from perhaps manually editing a config file), and it has resulted in the "black screen".
I've now also found a way to make the problem go away: After uninstalling and then re-installing, if I set the design resolution (in the Level Editor tab) FIRST, and THEN go back into the Preferences dialog to set the Video resolution (in the Audio/Video tab), the background stays gray.

Matt, as you suggested, I've uninstalled TGB, re-installed, and then set the video resolution to 1024x768 (from the default 640x480) applied the change, and then set the design resolution to 1024x768 (whereupon the background went black), and quit TGB. I've emailed you the resulting console.logBy the way, I've always set the design resolution from the Level Editor tab in Edit/Preferences as GamerGirl suggested (I didn't know there was any other way, apart from perhaps manually editing a config file), and it has resulted in the "black screen".

I also have suffered with this.
It appears that going into the level editor preferences and changing the grid x/y size also causes this black screen/no grid issue.
Happens every time here and the only way I can see out is uninstall/reinstall.

I uninstalled the TGB (keeping all user files) then reinstalled it, and it was a temporary fix. It gets the level screen in normal colors again, but if I set the resolution back to 1024X768, it's black and I have to do the uninstall/reinstall dance again.
So unfortunately, this means I can't use the nifty AdventureKit I just bought! :(
