Vehicle Lag sorted?

Hi All,
I've read many posts over the past few days on Wheeled Vehicle LAG over the Internet, with LAN games working fine. This is the problem I'm having, a great, smooth LAN game, but over the net it's very, very choppy indeed.. Can anyone tell me if there are any difinitive answers to this problem, I know it's a MASSIVE area.
