Bad Mesh when exporting Rigging Armature

Really just looking for a pointer into what I should be looking at with this problem. Not an artist/modeler so I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this.
I have a mesh and material that export without any problems into TSE. I've added an armature and created some vertex group deforms.
However, when I export the armature I have rendering problems of the mesh in both TSE and showtool. The mesh looks collapsed (in showtool it looks collapsed and also actually looks like some points go off into random infinte directions). Also, I notice the player orc animations reflecting on this object and armature i've exported (idle, run, walk, jump).
Any hints/pointers to what I may not have setup correctly?
