TGE 1.5 Performance Issues

I was wondering if anyone else is having a huge drop in FPS from TGE 1.4 to TGE 1.5. In 1.4 I was getting around 200-300 FPS. In 1.5 I get 15-33 FPS.
My system:
Intel Dual Core 2.8 Ghz
ATI X1600 256
1GB Ram
I can run HL2, Doom 3, Quake 4, and most other games on pretty much the highest settings without any problems. Anyone else experiencing poor performance?

Sorry I should have mentioned it, I am running Windows XP. It particularly happens when I run the Stronghold mission under FPS Starter Kit.

Nvidia geforce 6800GT 256 mb
2 GB DDR 400
You seem to be getting a little lower than me, I'm not sure why is the x1600 a good card?
I know when I delete the heavy snow and precipitation I end up jumping about 20 to 40 fps in the level. You could try that to get a little better performance.

I think its because of all the added particle effects. I am getting between 33 and 70 depending on where I am in the game world.I am using Windows XP

Is that an Intel Mac [specs look like it]? If it is, is the drop in FPS on Mac OS X or Windows? There seems to be issues with TGE 1.5 on Mac OS X. There's a thread here.
