Questions in regards features of the game engine

Hi everyone,

I was told this community knows the engine like the back of there hand and that I can find the answers to my questions here. Since lots of you have used this engine for some time now and will know the complete features and capabilities of the game engine I wanted to post a few question in regards to features that my team is looking for.

1) Does Torque support normal maps?

2) Does Torque support occlusion mapping?

3) " " " parallax mapping?

4) " " " radiance mapping?

5) " " " HDR and/or bloom lighting?

6) " " " dynamic lights?

7) " " " realtime refractions and
reflections?

8) " " " offset bump mapping?

9) " " " specular and reflection maps?

10) Does Torque support Character Studio's physique
modifier?

11) Does Torque support Maya 8, 3ds Max 9, and/or XSI
5.1?

    TGE does not support 1-5 nor 7-9

    but 6 it has.
    I am pretty sure it support's 10 someone else will correct me otherwise.

    as well I am not 100% sure on the max9 support, but if I am not mistaken the current exporter supports version 5-8 easily so 9 should work too.
    as for XSI I think that is still in development, Maya has support but I am not sure what version.

    TSE you might find some more support for the features listed in 1-9.

    Most of what you are looking for are supported in TSEA and not TGE. TGE is based on older hardware requirements and compatability. TSEA is the next-generation of it.

    1) Does Torque support normal maps?
    TSEA supports Normal Maps.

    2) Does Torque support occlusion mapping?
    Portalized and zoning occlusion is supported for BSP maps in TGE/TGEA. TGEA also includes culling algorithms for massive terrains as well.

    3) " " " parallax mapping?
    4) " " " radiance mapping?
    I believe TGEA does. I'm not entirely sure about radiance mapping, though. I believe so. Check out the demo and see.

    5) " " " HDR and/or bloom lighting?
    I believe there are resources to get these working within TGE 1.5.

    6) " " " dynamic lights?
    TGE 1.5 does.

    7) " " " realtime refractions and
    reflections?
    You can create mirrored surfaces (non-shader) within the BSP pipeline in TGE. TGEA supports reflection mapping. I am not sure about refraction, though. It makes sense, but I am not certain.

    8) " " " offset bump mapping?
    TGB 1.5 allows bump mapping of interiors and terrain (I think). TGEA definitely does.

    9) " " " specular and reflection maps?
    TGEA

    10) Does Torque support Character Studio's physique
    modifier?
    I do not know as I am not a Max user.

    11) Does Torque support Maya 8, 3ds Max 9, and/or XSI
    5.1?
    Max, yes. Maya, yes. XSI, no.
