Bugs with the 1.5

by Don Weatherby · in Torque Game Engine · 10/30/2006 (8:11 pm) · 8 replies

Ive noticed a few bugs in the 1.5 upgrade and so what ive noticed is

1.certain sounds infinitely loop when a mission is started most of the time footstep sounds.
2.the lighting times not really sure if its a bug but whatever.
3.....well maybe only 2 then.

so... thats somthing i need help with.. also a question i had music in my 1.4 game but when I updated it deleted my extra audioprofiles that i used to exec music for my intro/logo and my main menu as well as for ingame backround music.

The sounds looping is an issue with OpenAL, and usually occurs when reloading a level...sometimes even when you start one. Sorry I am unclear on your question.

What im saying is that im having sounds loop infinitely when they arent supposed to like when i start a mission all i hear is thump thump thump thump of the footstep sound.

also i had multiple audioProfile.cs scripts and when i updated it deleted them and now im having a hell of a time playing main menu music and any music at anytime for that matter.

any help on these issues would be great thx.

Ok now its just lame ive been messing with this forever the music isnt working with 1.5 im messing with .wav and .ogg sounds and music and also using audio profiles exaclty like i had them before and its not working.
the lighting and terrain effects are great and all its just dissapointing that the sounds dont work right.

EDIT: it seems that my converted music files.ogg sound/music files arent working properly they maybe to big but .wav works just fine. Ill mess with this more

Ok got some music working but i cant convert bigger music files from mp3 to .wav or .ogg cuz they wont play but smaller ones will i think. looks like it may just be the files sizes but not sure.

so just to say lighting takes 1-3 minits
and sounds somtimes loop for no reason when 1. start a game or 2.go to a different mission.

other then those two relitivly small issues this engine is awsome!

Apparently, lighting will be faster if you re-compile the .map files using the 1.5 version of map2dif_plus.

@Don

The map2difplus .exe should be located in your torque\SDK\tools folder.
