Question about RPG game creating

Hi all,
I'm thinking about buying Torque and am hoping to create a MMORPG for freinds to come and chat/battle on. I've heard torque is racing and first person shooter, but how would i go about creating it. I've had a look at dream RPG but i don't want to spend more money. I will if i have to.
Also, i downloaded the demo and became massivley confused with the map, but that's a question i'll ask once i get the software..if i get the software ;)
Thanks,
Jake Mitchell (Shriohana)

Still do some research, but this will help you out once you have a grasp.

I agree with BadGuy. There is a lot to be done with it. Thankfully Dreamer and the gang have a very nice addon which will help you (not make it completely for you) for the engine.www.mydreamrpg.com

Don't let this discourage you however. Torque CAN do it and has, but it can't do it for you. ie You will need to do most of the coding and all that to set it up. The rpg kit will help with that.
Think of what you have experience with and how much more you need to learn. I'm an experienced web programmer and so I was able to get persistent characters through a mySQL/PHP database linked into torque very easily, but I've had to scale down my project so that I don't have to learn so much that I'll get bored or frustrated before it's finished. So think small. An RPG with half a dozen quests that you can play with some friends across a lan is perfectly possible with some skill, ingeuity, and time. A full blown MMORPG will take you 20 years just to create the content.

If you don't want to spend the money on the rpg kit then you will have a problem setting up anything more than a multiplayer RPG. To go online you will need a fast conection and at least a couple of servers, to make it massively online you'll need servers galore and a massive conection.Don't let this discourage you however. ...
you are following a zillion noob's up the same road.
you need to obviously do alot more before you are mmorpg making material if you are asking this question.
so scale back a bit and try something simpler.
do you already have development skills? can you write code? make art? do anything related?
if the answer is not: I have made many games and used many different tools to do so.
then you sure as hell arent ready to make an mmorpg.
the people that make mmorpg's have lots of skill's in many different areas of the game development industry.
I suggest you get researching how this is done.
no need to ask questions like this there is no clear answer and I am sure you knew that when you asked the question.
