1.5 Issues

by Peter Simard · in Torque Game Engine · 10/24/2006 (11:19 pm) · 11 replies

Just got 1.5 setup and noticed a few things. The first one is a lighting issue that happend after minimizing and restoring the mission:

img217.imageshack.us/img217/1507/screenshot00100001tw5.pngAs you can see there are some red and blue artifcats on the texture.

The other one im not sure if its a bug or feature. While in the mission editor there was red blocks spinning in a circle around some objects:

The red blocks are all the audio emitters in the level, showing the audio radius range.

Thanks Jon. I've never used audio emitters before so it looked quite strange to me. Thanks for clearing that up.

Hi Peter. Im running an Nvidia 6600GT with the newest forceware as well, and I can't seem to reproduce the issue. Are you running SLI, can you reproduce the error consistantly, etc. And by minimizing and restoring the mission, do you mean just minimizing TGE and then maximizing it?

I cant get the problem to reproduce the same. I did get this similar problem after loading a few missions and minimizing/maximining. It looks like the lightmap is gone:

Are you running WinXP? Also if you want, you can run msinfo32 and save a copy of your system info to email to me. I'd be happy to check it out and see if I can find anything there.

Also, do you have any sort of FSAA enabled, etc? This seems to be a video memory/driver related issue.

You know I saw the same "the hut is red" and "the interior is blue" the first time I ran the new build under 1.4.2r1 on a Mac G5. As I recall it happened after I started switched window resolutions under OGL.

I was documenting it as a 1.4.2 bug but then it never happened again. I assumed it was a driver issue and would re-surface but it never did. I'm not sure how this helps but someone else has seen it one time as well and also after mucking with the drawing settings.

I just double checked the build - minimize/restore, the GL/D3D toggle, and res switch all restore light maps correctly.

Does this happen all the time or occasionally?

I had the same problem at first: after going to fullscreen and then to windowed mode again, lightmaps had gone. But it is happening randomly, so I cannot find the reason. Another issue I have is when I use 16 bits deph the towers in a long distance flashes randomly in white, looks like the fog not rendering well there. And the mouse is behaving bad in fullscreen mode too, it runs too quick and it is dificult to control it. I think I remember the same issue with an older TGE version on Macs...
