by Adam Wilson · in Artist Corner · 10/24/2006 (6:45 am) · 8 replies

I was working and at one point Constructor added 4 portals with out me knowing that it had did that and making the map2dif to crash when used..

Has any one else had this problem?

Or are the 4 portals suppose be there?

Constructor should not be adding random portals. Can you detail the steps you took to get that?

Just working.. checking to make shore that I don't get missing faces so I would save as a csx and then save as map and run map2dif at one point in time it would not late me save as diff when I had discovered 4 portals that were not assigned to any brushes were add.. that is all I can tell you..

Now I am getting zones that I have not defined at all.. I have not put in any portals.. and when I bring them into any of the engines and run a setInteriorRenderMode(7); I can't see the zones it is making.. is this a bad brush placement or overlapping brush's if I could fined them I could try and fix them but I can't see them..

Has any one ever figured out a way to not generated unwanted zones?

This has become just another nightmare fore me if not bigger than missing faces at leas with missing faces I can tell where the problem is at or closes to it but with zones that are created when all I have done is made some walls and not enclosed them. I am thinking the zones are inside the walls themselves or where 2 walls meat but I am not for shore for I can't see the zones in engine.

I really need help?

One more thing as I try and run down the zones that are made when map2dif is created it seems to be random but I still get the same number of zones and some times I don't on the same file on reopen..

The way that I am trying to fined the zones is by deleting brushes and export out to dif and see what my count is.. some times I get the right number of zones and some times it increases in number of zones.. and reopen up the file deleting the brush that created the fluctuation in zones isn't always the same one I will get different results making it almost impossible to run down the unwanted zones it is creating.

One more thing with my struggle that if I delete some brushes and the one zone that I would like to have and was working as a zone will no longer register as a zone (loose that zone)

If you have a file with lots of zones in theory as I build I will lose my zones that I need and add ones that I don't want and running down this problem is going to be mined naming..

I decided to go old school and run it there an old map2dif ( no plus) and I started getting a bunch of problems with my brushes..

Vislink cannot be coplanar with a node!

::createBaseWinding: Bad face on brush. < 3 points. DMMNOTE: Handle better?
::createBaseWinding: Bad face on brush. < 3 points. DMMNOTE: Handle better?
::createBaseWinding: Bad face on brush. < 3 points. DMMNOTE: Handle better?
::createBaseWinding: Bad face on brush. < 3 points. DMMNOTE: Handle better?
::createBaseWinding: Bad face on brush. > 32 points. DMMNOTE: Increase max winding points?

Should I bother running down the old school problems every one was having with map2dif or should I not?

So I found on of my zones that I was looking for it was about 0.0005 m wide at the top.. very hard to fined 5 or 6 of the zones that it makes.. it seems that moving vertices from top no problems, but if you go to the side and move them that is when my verices got messed up..

measure 5 times then ask the boss if you can cut oh ya the boss is out of town for the week but get the house built before Friday.. lol..

Every time it seams that I use the Knife tool it makes more zones that I don't want and can't fined them to get read of them. is any one else getting the same problems that I am with this tool Or am I just using it wrong like everything I do so far.

Is there an easy fix for this tool to stop making zones when used?
