Can I go out side for help

by Adam Wilson · in Artist Corner · 10/23/2006 (8:21 am) · 4 replies

Is it OK to go get help with the problems I am having with making map files and motion that I am using Constructer Beta on Garage Game public Forms?.. or is that some breach of contract as a beta tester?
I just am not getting help here.

@Adam-I wouldn't go outside of this forum, if you need help e-mail Mathew Fairfax. Just remember beta means beta and there will only be limited functionalty and support. Beta is really a time for people to get familiar with the product and help the development team identify bugs. So again you may not be able to do what you want to do or you may have to figure it out on your own.

I understand beta and how it has limited functionality and support.. and my question have to do with the map2dif or dif itself.. it isn't question on Constructor it is the fact that map2dif cut the hell lout of things and missing faces (old story).. and I am not the only one that is having problems like this.. People say that map2dif isn't Brocken but I say it could be for Constructor but to be shore I was going to go get as much info from other people and there problems with map files and converting to dif but each editor has its own problems with map2dif and to run down the problem people would like to know what tool I am using, and that is why I asked...

I love Constructor and the interface and able to load dts is more than great.. but I can't make a good dif.. they look great in Constructor but when I run map2dif I fill like running into a brick wall. And it shouldn't be this hard to make a dif it is hard enough to make the map file..

I just would like to stress one thing and that is to make Constructor the best tool out there you are going to have to make it work with map2dif even better for the artist out there that don't won't to get into the science and little half @$$ tweaks to make a good dif file to be used in game..

In the near future (ish) you won't have to use map2dif with Constructor anymore. In the meantime feel free to get "outside" help with anything that is specific to map2dif. If I recall correctly from glancing through the forums, you already seem to be doing that.

One piece of advice I can give you is to look into detail brushes.

The thing is that I can't use detail brushes on a wall that is part of a zone or I will loose that zone.. but thanks for the help.. and can't wait for map2dif to go away...
