Hi,
I tried making a windows build of my game from a Mac. Does this feature work. My buddy says my game.exe is just a folder on his windows machine. Thanks in advanced.

Maybe I don't understand what you're saying.

Why would it have to be Mac-only? You don't need a seperate license, all you need is a friend with a PC that's willing to let you install the Windows version of TGB long enough for you to package your game (15 minutes tops, even if you made source changes and need to compile a fresh binary). You can download both the Mac and Win versions of TGB with just one license, you don't have to pay extra.Maybe I don't understand what you're saying.

I understand that I have access to the Windows source, which could be recompiled with the changes I've made; but I have no friends that use Windows XP! I live in a Mac world.

Thomas Buscaglia, I was asking if you could make a Windows build from a Mac machine. I didn't know it has to be done on a Windows machine.

I don't think there are any Windows cross-compilers available for Mac anymore. Metrowerks Codewarrior used to sell one, but I believe they discontinued it some years ago. So basically, to compile a Windows binary on a Mac, you have to find a way to boot Windows (such as in Virtual PC on a PPC Mac, or in Parallels Workstation or Boot Camp on an Intel Mac).

Most of the gaming/cyber cafe's I've been to would let me install and compile stuff on their machines if I asked nicely. Had to do that once for a Multimedia CD-ROM I was sending to a publisher for mac & pc a few years back. Then again, the cyber cafe's around your parts may be different.

Guys, I second the above. I'm a Mac-only guy. My first demo was done with a Mac-only language. Publishers were really interested in it, but how could they do anything with it? So I went with Torque. It's so worth it to find a PC and compile for both platforms. I wish you well finding someone. My guess is that the person will be incredibly intrigued by meeting someone who makes video games.

From Thomas Buscaglia (Employee), "You need the Windows binary in order to make a Windows verision of your packaged game. Just download the Windows binary with your same license on a Windows machine and package your game just how you did on the Mac with Windows selected."
So, you apparently are not able to build a Windows version on a Mac. You need to build it on a Windows box. I don't do Windows, so I guess that my first game (which is nearing completion) will have to be Mac-only.
