ESRB question

I'm creating a game in the style of Doom 3 and Fear put together. I'm going to put it online for download. My question is doe's the ESRB have to rate it since it is going to be online for download. Also how much doe's it cost if they have to rate it. I know the game is going to be rated M for mature and display (Gore, Blood, Violence on it.

Also doe's GG publish games like this or not.

If it is a good game and hits GG's target market, they will look into publishing it. If it is a good game and doesn't hit their target, they might give input on how to reach other targets as long as it is near completion.

You do not have to have the ESRB rate your game for a download. It is pricey to have them rate it (and it should be done in a complete state to avoid repeat rating) and is mainly in-line for box distributors and shelf distribution lines. You should make sure to provide sufficient warning on the web-site for the game, though. Do not use their rating icons without permission.
