Im looking for ideas for a halo game im planing on creating. Heres what i got so fare. It will be called Halo Fall of Reach. It is the prequill to halo one but will hopflly have the grand in scale feel as halo 3 (ok mabye the graphics wont be there but im hopping the game play will) Story goes like this Humans-----runs into Covenant------Covanant attack-------Humans decalare war on the covanent------Reach is the scene of the climatic battle-------Masterchief and the crew of the pillar of autum are all that servive. thats the ruff idea of couse the game will have more levels and i could use ideas for those and of couse for good old multiplayer.
New weapon ideas would be good
oh and if anyone can use blender and desighn a master chief, warthog, or scorpion tank, or of course sargent that would be great but i understand if you cant because your bussy but at least give me a few ideas.

The Halo RTS was killed because MS is releasing Halo Wars, which was announced days ago. I believe that the platformer, which was made in the spirit of the Half-Life platformer (which received permission from Valve after a lengthy process and was even released on Steam as a pre-release goody). But without a solid concept in a market where Microsoft and the Halo team are not going to delve, a fan-based Halo is pretty much already defunct. However, modding the original Halo for the PC and telling a prequel story is fine. Sure there is next-to-no chance for commercial renumeration, but it accomplishes what he wants in an officially sanctioned fashion.

I am sorry for my spelling. it is somthing of an issue that i have, but please do not think that i dont read and listen to everyones feed back. the goal of this project is not to make money nore is it to release the game to everyone. The goal is to build a game that incorperates everthing that me and the 20 people i have inlisted to help with the project liked about halo and halo2 and then to incorperate the fetures we would have liked to see, that were left out, by bungie. For the team and select people to use. After and if it gets done(it is a challenge to do and i hope to do it however i am aware that the odds are against me) i will be sending it to bungie for feed back perposes only( not to try and get the rights nore to become a member of the bungie team allthough it would be nice) and that is all. If they choose at that point to ask me to stop i will, and then we(being myself and my team) will change the chacters and the story around and consider releasing it under a new name.(however we would continue to use the same modded torque engine) However as of right now we have no intention of release to the public or proffiting from this venture. The hope is to take the lessons that we will lean from this indever to creat a bigger and better game that incorperates everthing that halo and the bungie team accomplished without a copyright infrindgment ( i Know that that is spelled wrong). That is why i am building this game. I hope this clears up some of the issues posters had with this post however i am still looking for suggestions if anyone has them( i mean possitive or helpful not "your idiot")

The models are provided for use with the Halo engine and modifications kit. While I'm sure you could convert them (they are a Max house, I believe...or at least the PC SDK from Gearbox was Max-oriented), it would probably be better...especially if you want to submit it to Bungie/MS later...to use their engine.
I love TGE, but for your particular project as an addendum modification to the Halo universe, it makes sense to use the Halo engine and modify it.

2. Download the SDK from Gearbox. They're a good bunch of people. One of my best friends from high school is one of the founding members. Just make sure to read their forums for a bit (and this is crutial in any community) and get a feel for the flow. Once you have the feel of the community, you can integrate yourself without knocking too many heads or seeming n00bish (because you will see and avoid any behavior that the community finds "n00bish").
3. Mod. Mod. Mod.

Wasn't Halo a blatent rip off of Ring World? Why not just make up a new name and create your own IP around it? Just don't get so close to the original that MS gets ticked off. You can't patent or trademark ideas. Really, Halo is just a bunch of trademarked and copyrighted works. If you make your artwork different, change all the names of everything, and sufficiently differentiate your story you can make what you want. Whatever you do, logically think out your story line from first version to last so that you do not introduce logical inconsistencies.

But yeah, I'd recommend a similar but different game too.

The only similarity between Halo and Ringworld was the fact that the media took place on a ring instead of a planet. But yeah, I'd recommend a similar but different game too.

Edit:
warthog = groundhog (puma is taken)

I think the main idea was that the ring be a certain distance from the Sun to allow for ideal conditiions for life. You could make a cube world? : ) Wait, dodecahedron world, the sphere o' fear, giant hurt ball, death tickle...Edit:
warthog = groundhog (puma is taken)

Don't tell me that I was the only one that felt like I was playing the same level over and over on those games...

If you really want to make a Halo game, then just do what Bungie does--make one level, and then copy and paste it to fit your level number needs. Then make each one slightly different colors (though this isn't necessary), and then you have a whole game! Pretty cool, huh?Don't tell me that I was the only one that felt like I was playing the same level over and over on those games...

Well, Bungie's design philosophy on it was "...to create 30 seconds of fun and then do that 30 seconds over and over again". I personally don't subscribe to that way of thinking, but it worked for them and I got about the same enjoyment out of the game as any other FPS.

0_0 Wow, people actually play the Halo singleplayer?!! lol Yeah, I actually played it on the PC. To be honest, it would be a lot more fun if people wouldn't go around screaming that it's the return of the messiah or whatever.... Seriously. I'll admit, it's fun, but I think it's time for us to move on. Don't play Halo. Play Psychonauts!! lol "I am the Milkman. My milk is delicious."

If this is your dream project, go for it but just take heed of the legal issues that may arise.
