TGB Indie and TGB Pro

I currenlty have the TGE sdk, which is a touch (touch=miles) above my head. I don't really have the technical background (yet) but like trying to make games ( yes a noob hoobyist). I did the TGB demo and got so much further using that then I did with the TGE. I am very interested in getting the TGB but wonder if I could get away with just purchasing the indie lisc.? What can I do with the indie version? I have noticed to add extra things, like the TGB adventure kit it looks as though you need the pro version. I think for the game I was thinking about may require some C++ code being added but I am not sure at this time what TGB is capable of. Guess I am a little hesitant to throw down $250 for a hobby at this time. What types of games is the indie geared for.

Of course, whatever you can do with the demo you can do with the non-source version.
For an example, the poker game was essentially made with the non-source version*.
*-according to other posts on the site. There was a minor, non-essential source change.
