weld or dont weld

hey guys, im trying to model this guy for a test in a video game. hes made out of a sphear. i made his hand out of a box. my question is, should i weld his hand to his arm now, or should i wait till i export the objects (textporter, sorry for my wording, i dont know what you exactly call this...) if i weld it now, can i still use textporter to unwrap it all? thanks in advance

I can't see you image but I'd say go ahead and weld. Ideally for textporter you take the modle (one object) and then use an "edit mesh " to seperate areas (head, arms, legs) to flatten it out then once you arranged everything for textporter you then put a uvw unwrap to trick the UVW to stay and then turn off all those edit meshed you did to break apart the body. I know this sounds confusing but I have a 3d modeling presentation I can send you if you have power point, just email me at vinci_smurf@smurfs.com
