Transparent materials?

by Joe O · in Artist Corner · 09/17/2006 (9:05 am) · 5 replies

For some reason I can't get a transparent material to work in Blender. I have the material all transparent looking in my material preview... The image can render transparently in the UV editor but it does not get rendered in a 3d view as having the alpha channel on the material. I'm no blender expert but if someone could give me a hand trying to figure this out I'd appreciate it.

I assumed that because it was not rendering properly in Torque and not showing properly in my blender 3d view I borked something.

Check out the tread at this forum - "Anatomy of a Tree with Blender". There you will find some steps how to set up the alpha in blender.

Thanks a lot - I don't know how I missed that but I did. Must have been searching on something different. . .

That got it working and I got the funny rendering where my trunk rendered outside of my leaves. After making the trunk the parent everything worked out fairly well - and I got my transparent leaves too! Thanks :)
