DirectX 10 is going to to be great; Think of the posibilites.
The question is will I be able to use it with Windows Professional or will I have to get Windows Vista and if I have to get windows Vista will my current programs work on it.

The other question (big one for me) is are you willing to relearn everything about DirectX again?

My school tought me in a month, well 5 weeks so depending on how much I have plenty of time. Knowledge is only as far as the person wants to go with it.

Yeah I spent a few months learning DirectX 9 from about $60 worth of books, I don't really have as much time as I did beforehand to relearn everything, completely changing the API is a bit of a turnoff for me, but OpenGL is doing it aswell so I guess im stuck for now.

Those who have been programming in DirectX since the beginning will know that every new version requires you to relearn interfaces, callbacks, methods etc... that's the fun part of DirectX :P

And every new version of DirectX has been far far easier to learn than the previous.

Also I was reading some websites: The web sites I was reading say that D3D10 is not going to be available for the Xbox 360: which mean as after it comes out the PC will be able to give a whole different perspective on games with better graphics and sound quality. Just a theory.
