Which should I buy TGB PRO or TGE?

I am an experienced Java programmer with some knowledge of C++. I am looking to create a turn-based strategy game, similar in design as X-Com. It appears to me that the TGB Pro would be the way to go. However I thought I would ask what you all thought. What are the major differences between the two and what are the advantages of one over the other? Also would the Adventure Pack be worth getting if I went the TGB Pro route?

Yes I would go the TGE Pro if I was you, you get the source code. The Adventure Pack is worth every penny. You have alot stuff in there you can learn from.

Am I correct in assuming that the TGB has more built in tools than the TGE?

TGE - 3D engine with nice real-time networking.
TGB - 2D engine with baseline 3D model support and a simplified networking model.

TGB for sure. The only thing you really lose from TGE is the networking, which for a TBS game, is a moot point. TGB is infinitely easier to get started working with. And yes, it has much better design tools, which are only going to get better.

TGB would probably be the best thing for a TBS, and if you find the networking is a bit lacking and require more real-time networking for any reason, you could tweak the networking layer and add to it after the fact (gotta love source)

Thanks for the help everyone. It looks like I'll be getting TGB Pro.
