Torque Game Engine Demo - Error allocating virtual memory

by Joe Heimiller · in Torque Game Engine · 09/05/2006 (1:49 pm) · 2 replies

This error pops up after a while when running the demo application: "Error allocating virtual memory". I had 1.6 gig of RAM free before running the program (I have 2 Gig of RAM total). I have an older video card, NVidia GeForce4 MX 440.

On my older computer (with a All-In-Wonder 9000) the demo crashes and actually reboots the machine.

It runs just fine on my laptop (with SiS M650 video).

Has anyone else gotten this? Does Torque not run on some older video cards? All old video cards? Just my video cards?

If you would had asked me to pick a guess about which of these video cards Torque does not support, I would had guessed the SiS M650 card. I find it odd that All-In-Wonder 9000 fails on you. Check your drivers.

As far as your first error is concerned, if the error pops up after a while then it could be really bad.

Yes, it was the driver, sorry. The problem was Microsoft's 2004 version of the Nvidia GeForce driver. I should have known better! The latest NVidia driver fixes the problem.
