RTS Benefits for me

I'm thinking of buying the RTS kit because the game I'm designing has a lot of troop group control and management - but I would like to know from people who have it what it can do.
I'm not writing a full on RTS game, more of a casual RTS / shooter, so I want some group control / go here all of you guys and shoot this thing, and I don't have to worry about how they do that.
I'm coming from a position of having no code for this sort of thing, so what I'm asking is, will the RTS kit save me the headache of coding all this kind of control or is this kind of thing fairly easy to write?
What are the benefits of the RTS kit over writing my own simple RTS code?
Also does it have node-based pathing/A* AI stuff?

Also only other problem is the RTS code is version 1.3 instead of 1.4 but there is a tutorial on how to covert it to 1.4 like 4 hour tutorial to do that lol just to let you know.

Thanks for the info Matthew - and with a deft swipe of the credit card... RTS Starter pack will become mine ... oh yes :)

Swipe? This is online dude. Also I have the RTS kit and it worked fine on 1.4. Didnt have to modify a thing. Looks like I totally own :)
