Can I use the demo models for a game?

by Sean H. · in Torque Game Engine · 08/31/2006 (10:30 am) · 7 replies

I'm sure this has been asked before but can one use the models included in the demo for a game? I attempted to search for this information myself but it's really hard to find because I couldnt come up with any keywords to narrow the search results.

any information about this would be appreciated.

Well a quick peek at the EULA says yes. I think the real question is do you really want to?

Awesome! thanks Treb.

well I'm not too crazy about the character and weapon models, but the buggy model would be useful for what im working on now.

Quick fix: change the skin of the buggy. Customize it for your game, no need to edit the mesh if the shape works how you want it.

Well now that i think about it, I probably wouldnt be able to use the model. I would need to use the buggy as a static model and since vehicles are divided up into separate body and tire meshes, I would have to combine them. I'm using milkshape and I seriously doubt the buggy and tire meshes are available in a format I can use to import and combine them.

still, this is good to know.

Sean,

For what you're describing, you might want to try Shaper. It loads Torque .DTS object files and exports Milkshape ASCII files. That should get you started.

Yea I know about shaper. in fact, if you look at that thread, youll see I posted a message about how useful it sounds.

but for some reason I can't load any of the URLs in that blog. I keep getting a "page not found" error.

Hmm. Weird. I just tried some of the links and they're working for me.

Try this . . . I've mirrored the 0.99 trial version on my personal site for you. Hopefully, you can download it without any problems. Since it's the 30-day version, maybe Alexander won't mind.

I'll take the file down as soon as you let me know you've got it.
