Problems with ambient light inside of interiors

by Pak · in Artist Corner · 08/26/2006 (10:47 am) · 3 replies

I searched and found nothing useful.

I'm using hammer and I'm trying to set the "ambient color" in "map proprieties" to a color. The color is not showing up, its either white or black. Can something be done about that?

I'm asking this because I have portals blocking the exterior ambient light and my interior have lots of detail so I have to put an entity in every little corner and on all around columns or the shadows will be too dark... On the opposite if the light is allowed to pass the whole interior looks washed out. Its either too dark or too white.

thx

Yeah, I'm having the same problem with map2dif_plus (via QuArK). To confound things even more, I did get lucky on one model which let me use it. Not sure of the difference, though.

One option is to use the Torque Lighting Kit's static light which allows you to easily raise the ambient level.

It'd be nice if the exporter was fixed, though.

Good to know I'm not the only one to have that problem.

Yeah. As good as SynapseGaming's lighting pack is (I'd almost say it's necessary), I'd still like to be able to raise or lower the levels as needed via my CSG editor.
