TGB - Internet Multiplayer???

by Eric Schuld · in Torque Game Engine · 08/21/2006 (11:23 am) · 1 replies

So I did a quick search and had difficulty finding an answer to this.

I am considering the purchase of torque game builder - but my wonder is this:

"TorqueNet Lite: Incorporate turn-based multiplayer functionality into your game in a snap with TorqueNet Lite, adapted from the powerful Torque Network Library code."

Does the TGB only support turn-based multiplayer functionality? Or is it possible - as just an example - make a hockey game - where you would have 5-6 people on a team shooting the puck around? Not a game I'm gonna make - but you get the example.

I guess my real question then before I purchase is - what is the functionality for supporting of this type of live action play? And how would it be built in to find other players - my assumption is one would have to setup a game server all the clients would connect to in an effort to start a game with eachother. Ok - that's my question.

Thanks,
eschuld

I may not be correct, but I believe it is possible to do other forms of multiplayer, just somewhat difficult and slow. That is, unless you dig into the source code...
