Differences between tile interfaces in .0 and .1?

Is the tile map tutorial/documentation at all relevant still? The TDN article has a nice big warning saying it's possibly horribly inaccurate and useless, and there's nothing in the new packaged docs about it.
addendum: well, after some frustrated head-banging, helpful IRC person kyhwana pointed me to the /featured tutorials subdir. Added a note about that to the Tile Builder TDN article, I'll do the actual article-fixing in a day or two if no one else gets to it.
