Need advice on AGP voltage issue

I am thoroughly confused on AGP voltages and I need advice from the video card experts out there. First off, I was under the impression that all AGP 8X cards were 0.8v and that all AGP 8X motherboard slots were natively 0.8v but backwards compatible to 4X 1.5v. However, my new motherboard and video card just arrived today and oddly enough, the manual for my motherboard specifically states to insert a 1.5v AGP card even though the motherboard has an AGP 8X slot! What is that all about??? My new video card is AGP 8X and the key is different then the graphic shown in the motherboard manual.
Here is the specific hardware:
ASUS P4S800D-X Socket 478 motherboard with AGP 8X slot
XFX AGP 8X Geforce 6800 Xtreme
How can the motherboard advertise as having an AGP 8X slot but then require a 1.5v AGP card only? Isn't 1.5v AGP 4X? Also, since the keys on the card are different and the motherboard manual has a big exclamation point next to the (1.5v only) warning, I am worried that if I try it, I will fry my new motherboard.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you upgrade the bios on the motherboard. Don't mess with the cards bios.
Asus mb's are bulletproof it's made to spec. Just make sure it's seated properly and you have
a high watt power supply.
edit: I am running an Asus P4P800SE with an Aopen 6800 GT with no problems. 8x no sweat.
You can use the nvidia tools to double check the AGP rate after installation.
