Engine Programmer Wanted

3D, party-based, turn-based rpg inspired by crpgs such as Darklands, Realms of Arkania, U7, Fallout, ToEE, and PS:T. Game System, Mechanics, Setting, and Story completed. Content is still in development.

Game Concept: Bring a little of the old school back, mixed with some new innovations.
In my opinion, most rpgs are far too linear and play like a bad book that fails to invoke any emotion. The game looks to add drama and heroics to a genre that is often played with detachment, lack of even a semblance of role-playing, and a save/reload mentality.

TB, party combat. I have designed this aspect of the game to be able to (hopefully) stand on its own as a squad TBS such as the UFO's/X-Com's, the Jagged Alliance's, and Silent Storm (or ToEE for an rpg example).

Creatable and recruitable PCs/NPCs. Character creation and development similar to some of the more detailed p&p rpgs. (GURPS, The Riddle of Steel, Harn, Chivalry & Sorcery, The Burning Wheel, HERO, and Ars Magica).

Combat light (or lighter than the hack n' slash mentality of all crpgs-good and bad. And, yes, I can see how this contradicts with having an outstanding combat system)

Dialogue and choice/consequence heavy. Reactive environment in a believable atmosphere.

An emphasis on game play over graphics, or substance over the superficial (this means the game will not be held up as an example of cutting edge graphics).

Setting: Medieval fantasy with a monotheistic feudal backdrop. A kind of "what-if" similar to that of Lionheart. Influenced by G.R.R. Martin's "A Game of Thrones" series.

A small, focused area with highly detailed NPC's. Not an epic story arc, but very involved and interesting.

What I'm looking for:

I have a creative writer that has seen some publications and loves fantasy (she is a reader and writer, not a gamer). I will eventually need a modeler and animator on the team with a stake in the game. Art, music, and other assets will be contracted.

I am looking for an engine programmer who wants to be a big part in making a cool crpg like they used to make them and that is serious about and wants to form a company and work for a stake in the games produced. This is the biggest decision I will make in regards to the game's development, and I need to make sure it is the right one.

The programmer will have the same cut I do and be key in almost all facets of decision-making (hiring of modelers/animators, contracting of artists, what engine/utility to use, design, etc, etc). This will be an open-book company. Everyone's input will be valued.

This is a good opportunity to break into game making if you have the time, dedication, programming knowledge, passion for rpgs, and want to have a key role creating a role-playing game.
