Question about making a master server

How do i do it lol. I'm not very familiar with the whole "master" concept.....although i'm not completely ignorant. I just need a white bunny to show me the path. Basically my friend got a 100mb up and down server for my disposal. I was wanting to set up a master server for my FPS, but i don't know what to do. (Btw his server has linux and i have a windows xp comp if that matters) Ty to all the white bunnies that try to help me out.

Ok ty very much. I just need some way of making this new server the master cuz ya it's fast.....you get the point lol
