Brief description:
I am looking for a co-founder for a game development company. For an extensive period of time I have been working on a Game Design Document for a MMORPG set in the very birth of mankind, and then evolving into the future as time progresses.

Now I have come to a point where I'd like to start the actual development team. I believe in building slow, making a steady foundation, so right now I am looking for a co-founder who will also be lead programmer on the project. The first phase of developing will be limited to brainstorming, GDD completion, selecting an engine, planning etc. When we feel ready, we'll expand the team -
although slowly.

I expect the project to take around two years or more to complete, so I am only looking for someone who knows they'll be able to stay the full time - and remain dedicated to the project despite set backs and whatnot. The work will initially be without reward other than that you'll be co-owner of the company and gain experience and add to your portfolio.

So who am I? Well, I'll give you the short version: I'm 25 years old, university student getting a degree in webdesign (have also studied history at uni), experience in management and project leading. I worked for Sweden's largest TV-station (with their 3G portal) during the Soccer World Cup. I have previously been involved in MUD-developing and some other random game projects (currently I am building the launcher for another indie MMORPG).

Seeing as this is an ambitious project to undertake, I do have some requirements. I'd rather wait, or not do it at all, than fail half way through. You must be at least 18. You must know your way around C++. You must express yourself fluently in english. Finally, you must be 110% committed to see the project to the end.

Feedback:
Please refrain from posting advice AGAINST building an MMORPG in this thread. I have already read the articles you were going to link to. Constructive criticism however is always welcome. And yes, I know what I am getting myself into. Thanks for the concern :)

Asking for alot of commitments.

Quote:Game Design Document for a MMORPG set in the very birth of mankind

how can more information about your plan be ascertained without actually viewing your copyright material?

I am interested perhaps in the story, but I would want to know if it includes any relegious beliefs that tie to the current ones in the world.

if so, then I would refrain from asking anything else.
(eg: was it adam and eve? or something more logical like, a monkey!)

as well I note you specify you need a programmer.
where does the art come from? no artist yet?
what compensation will be provided to an art team lead to facilitate finding one?

Trusted One,

Cool... now you have me interested, what is Digital Awakenings? Any chance you're sitting on a URL to show me? :)

Badguy,

The story does not include any religion at this point. Religion is such a vast subject that I don't see it possible to add in a game that puts focus on so many other things. Also you need to contemplate the risks of turning the game into a platform for fighting religious wars. So no, no religion.

The players who play during the first era will start in a cave and use primitive tools. There won't be any hint to Adam and Eve, and none to the conclusion that we are ape descendants. I am not a religious man myself, but I really don't see a reason why such a feature should exist.

Yes, a programmer is needed for the initial stage. Once the planning is done and we both feel comfortable in what we want to achieve (and what is possible) further recruiting will commence. Compensation is one of those things that needs to be discussed, but as it is an indie project, the most likely answer will be a cut in the future revenues (and a spot in the credits).

Hope this answers most of your questions. If you have any more, don't hesitate!
Regards!

@Jojje,

I am working on the new site right now, should be back online in 72 hours.

Digital Awakenings Inc. (yes it actually is incorporated) has been in business for several years. Started as IT support, then web and custom software. It has always been my goal to bring Digital Awakenings to the point of Video Game Development. Now with a staff of 8 this is a reality. We are working on a very large scalable RPG. By scalable, the player will be able to play it in the style of Zelda or taking full control like text based D&D. We have licensed several databases from universities around the world in order to add an unheard of level of AI and what I think will be the primere of even basic AE (Artifical Emotion) as well a greater level of realistic battle damage, thanks in part to data from the visible human project.
