Torque.exe size change and FPS drop

So i installed the engine for a project i looked in the example folder and saw that the torqueDemo.exe is 1.07 mb. But when i build the torqueDemo_DEBUG.exe and didnt change anything the file is 7.14 mb. why this difference in size?

The difference in size is because you're building a DEBUG version and GarageGames compressed the executable with UPX before they shipped it out.Edit: Grammar.

Ok thanks, then something else. When i run my own build (still DEBUG) the FPS is like 10 and running the GG version it is around 70 FPS. What causes this and what can i do about it?

Is this from a fresh CVS head, or after you've made some changes?

No changes. And i think i would like to know why this is? 1.3 played fine when builded in DEBUG mode. so can anybody tell me why?

i use 1.3 heavily, and a debug build is always much slower than a release build.
just a fact of life.
have you tried a release build of your current project ?
are you sure it was a debug build which played fine ?

Yea im very sure, but you cant tell me why a debug build is slower? I could imagine it just builds faster and thereby not very good. or ehm...it puts all the debug info in the executable?

Debug has no optimisation.
