Car with weapon mounts

by Harold "LabRat" Brown · in Torque Game Engine · 04/24/2002 (1:06 am) · 21 replies

This demonstrates a couple things.

1. Mount points for a wheeled vehicle, including weapons
2. Script for mounting and firing 2 weapons on a vehicle
3. Proper Collision Mesh usage for a wheeled vehicle (ie. wheel hub nodes inside the collision box)

This is an advanced tutorial and as such it only includes the models and script files. There is no step by step.

Installation
------------
Copy the deathcar folder to your torque \example folder then start the game with the command line of:

torquedemo.exe -mod racing -mod deathcar

If you have any questions please post them in the garagegames forum

I don't know if he's managed to update the file yet, but I discovered this morning that in the MS3D file he has the camera node named "camera" instead of "cam", so the 3rd-person camera position is not where it should be. Change it to "cam", re-export, and you'll see the difference.

Great work, isn't it? =)

Much as I would like to take credit for the model.. All I did was convert it over to work with Torque.

The origional zip file of the origional model is included. But if you would like to see the site I snatched it from here's the URL:

3D Game Resources

EDIT: The model file is updated with the "cam" node now.

Hi,
I'd love to get hold of deathcar.zip, but the link seems to be broken.
Anyone know where I can get it?
Thanks.

I prefer my files not be hosted someplace that requires you to pay, view unwanted advertisements or wait for an hour to download.

I'll be updateing my resources to point to my webhost in the future.

I'll host it on my webserver, it has not advertisements or anything like that.

I have the file already, just give me the thumbs up.

I can offer a file host on Gigabit out of Vancouver, Canada for anyone who has resources or TGE related material they wish to share with others.

Please email me the file(s), or email me a URL where I can download the file to mirror/host it.

Cheers,

James

you dont have to pay for fileplanet, you have an option to either use the free server which could make you wait if there were a gazillion people trying to dl your file, or they offer a no wait server they will charge you a fee for, as for the adds you dont have to clik on them and is how most free host make there money to run there services,

I was just basicly telling you fileplanet has probably the biggest storage capacity on the net, and i have access to it.

My offer is good still.

The files will be back online as soon as my second DSL line is re-installed. I do not want them to be hosted anywhere else as it is a pain when I make an update to support older versions that may have been fixed to correct problems, but are hosted someplace else.

Please don't bump several year old threads. Create a new one with a link to the old one if you have something to contribute. In this case you didn't, so cut it out. thanks.
