Any chance for a current Linux source distro

Is there any chance a current Linux source distribution is made available? I work mainly on Linux (graphics programs, sound stuff, etc... are there) and it's a major pain to have to switch to Windows if I need to do some work on my 2D game.
I know that Linux support isn't high on the priority list for Garagegames, but I thought an effort like the one that was done for TGE-L 1.4 might be interesting to do to get TGB for Linux distributable in a (almost) current version.
There is an effort going on to get it to work, but to be able to work with the source, one needs to have someone with a Mac, to unzip the source code...
This is starting to be a rant I'm afraid, but if everybody keeps silent, the problem isn't known.
A first priority would be to update the 1.1 Alpha2 source distro, or remove it. It's really not a good example of how TGB 1.1 on linux should work.
If something like the TGE for linux facilities could be set up (community CVS for people with the source license), I'm sure the linux community would be a great help and a good testing ground for new functionality.
