I guess the Voodoo is the problem... go get a new card, dude! ;-))
To be sure, start the exe with the parameter -console, so you can switch to the Console window (ALT+TAB) when the game crashes - and maybe see the error...
But I'm almost positive that Torque will not run on a Voodoo 3...

Torque runs on an S3 Savage 4mb....
So it should run on voodoo3!
HOWEVER, it is not even close to being playable on an S3, it gets about 3FPS, and it crashes after 30 seconds..but atleast you can start the .exe!

Really??? That's cool!
But the -console option would be helpful anyways...

I had a voodoo3 3000 and Tribes2 ran fine (lower-rez of course).

Try the Mesa3D (formally MesaGL) API. It's OpenGL-compatible and geared more toward Voodoo cards.

http://mesa3d.sourceforge.net/

Looks like they even just put out an update on April 01, 2002.

I have a TNT2 video card and it crashes on me when I try to actually play it, when it is on OpenGL. It worked fine when I switched it to D3D though.

dont feel bad -- im running a tnt2 as well, and no maps except for the torque demo maps display properly.

The Torque engine should work on the Voodoo3, though it's not something I've personally tested in a while. Running with the -console may help us figure out what's going on. Another thing to do is run with "-log 1", this will create a console.log file which you can check for error messages.

Actually Torque runs fine on older video cards. I used to run it on my Voodoo2 (still around 15-20 fps)... now I run it on a TNT2 and my other comp has a Geforce2.
Just make sure you have the latest drivers installed

I too have problems with the latest head releases of torque not running with -game rw and know of people that have problem with the download version. I have posted a realm wars bug report here. On a side note all issues I've seen has only happened with Windows XP.

Thanks,
Bryan
