Xbox 360 equivalent PC

Developing a game for PC's with an eye to the Xbox 360 is good strategy. But this begs the question of how the game would run on an Xbox ( lacking a development system at the moment ).
So my question is, if one was to build a PC ( for Xbox compatibility testing ), what would be included to make it as equivalent / compatible as possible?
Most compatible video card -
Most compatible cpu -
Most compatible controller setup -
keyboard, monitor, drives, installed memory, ...
you get the idea.
Thoughts?

I was wondering if there are some feelings about what might be close.
Pat, you seam to have done much in all areas. Any feel for what cpu archetecture / speed gave a good feel for how an Xbox would run? Which ATI card has a "similar" archetecture and memory? Anything?
Other GGers?
Anyone with some "feels"?

I know there are no direct comparisons.I was wondering if there are some feelings about what might be close.

ATI cards, I'd say nothing less than an x800. The memory and the way the card does things will be totally different, though. The 360 does some things way faster than PC architecture does, and the way it does rendering is totally different, however TSE hides most of that behind the GFX device.
I think the advice we got when starting was, "Get the fastest PC you can, put the best ATI card in it you can find, and the Xbox will be faster." That is probably still very true. I'd say don't break the bank, though. Usually the price difference between the top-of-the-line and the next step (or two) down is huge. I have an x800 and a 3.2Ghz P4, but I've done dev on my laptop with a 9600 Mobile and a 1.6 PentiumM.

The CPU is so different that there really isn't a comparison. Everything from what it supports in the vector unit, to the way the branch prediction works is different. If your machine has a fast CPU, than it will be good enough.ATI cards, I'd say nothing less than an x800. The memory and the way the card does things will be totally different, though. Grab a good ATI card and an Xbox 360 controler. Build it on TSE.
That's really the best you can do.
