Sequence Exporting As .3ds

I am trying to export my sequence to .dsq. Sometimes when I do this it creates a .3ds file instead of a .dsq file. What is going on here?

My guess would be that you are using the "File/Export" or "File/Export As" options instead of the "Export to DSQ" option found in the DTS Utility. When this happens if you are not careful, it is possible to export as a .3DS instead of your intended file type.

What I am doing is clicking on 'Sequences' in the DTS Exporter Utility panel. So it's definitely not the "File/Export" or "File/Export As" options as you mentioned. Any other possibilities? The exporter seems to work fine with exporting the Ava pack sequences without any changes, so it must be something I am doing with my own model. Just can't figure out what!

Well I hate to say it but by default exporting a .3DS from the sequences button of the Exporter Utility is impossible. So unless you are using a 3rd party script, doing something other than what you described above, or are running a version of the plugin you compiled or got somewhere other than the artists downloads page there is honestly no reason why you should be getting a .3DS file format.
