TGB Trial Install issue
by Tim Yardley · in Torque Game Builder · 06/21/2006 (9:29 am) · 29 replies
I am having a issue with the trial installer. For some reason it is failing with the following error.
There has been an error.
Error writing file C:/Program Files/TorqueGameBuilder/uninstall.exe
The application will exit now.
I am installing it on a company laptop so that might be a issue right there. However i have all the other Torque demos on here too without trouble.
I will try it later on my own hardware when I get home. I just really want to play with this while I am at work :)
Thanks,
Tim

I'm getting the same error also on install.

I got it to work at home. I guess it should be noted that you need a internet connection to install. If it does say so, I missed it. The machine I am having issues on is behind a socks 4 proxy and no matter what I put in there it will not work and cores. I am going to grab a direct line out and try that to install.
I have to say the install was awesome at home and it ran great. There is one really wierd thing that happened. I tried to open one of the PNG files in Photoshop 7, and everytime I did the computer would just shut off. No warning or nothing just **POOF**. Not that big of a deal really, just odd.

Well, I just tried installing this on a direct connection without a proxy and it still dies. Not sure what is going on. The installer does not like something about this laptop. Even if I choose not to search for updates, I can accept the EULA, and then choose a dir to install into and **BLAM** crash. I am going to try a few more things and see if I can narrow it down.

In the check for update you can enter the proxy information. Does this info need to be entered in with the http:// or without?
Example:
proxy.garagegames.com
or
http://proxy.garagemages.com

OK, I just tried everything I could think of including "Safe Mode". No dice. I get the exact same error. I have also downloaded the installer countless times, so I am confident it is not corrupt. I don't think it is a permission issue, I can install all kinds of other stuff...SKYPE, TGE, DIVX to name a few. Can someone tell me if the installer infact has to download the entire product from online? If so, is there a full installer that does not require this? I am willing to purchase this right now if that is required to get a full installer that does not require the installer itself to download stuff. Although, acrobat and other installers do this too without issue on this machine. In the check for update you can enter the proxy information. Just a update on this. I purchased TGB and am able to install it on the machine that is having issues. However it will not let me register the software. GG really needs to change the required to include internet connection. Companies have been sued for a lot less I am affraid. It is also very frustrating. It would have saved me countless hours!!

We will make this change in the system requirements page, yes. Thanks!

It's automatic. You should be able to view any of the TGB specific sections as soon as you re-login to TDN (to make sure your authentication change gets loaded).

Sorry, you must own a GG developer product (TGE, TSE, T2D, RTS-SK, Lighting pack) or be a GG Associate in order to qualify for the TDN beta.
I must not be doing something right.

Not working. Everytime I click on login it says at the top:Sorry, you must own a GG developer product (TGE, TSE, T2D, RTS-SK, Lighting pack) or be a GG Associate in order to qualify for the TDN beta.

I have an error when try to install the demo version. The error say some thing like this.
Ther has been an error.
Error writing file C:/progam files/torquegamebuilder/uninstall.exe
The application wil exit now.
I test it on 3 diferent Pc, with diferent Hard and Windows.
Tested on Celeron, Pentium , Pentium 4, Windows 2000 and XP.
And Alex Rice Say:
Hi Odiel, maybe it is a file permissions problem on your PC. Do you have administrator priveleges? Please respond here; Torque 2D Game Builder Public Forums >> TGB Trial Version and Tutorial Questions

Alex,
I have full admin permision, i set the permision to EveryOne, full access.
And the error continue.
Why is too complicated Install it? When the install process is too simple on the most applications.

Well reading the above, did u make sure you were connected to the internet when you were installing the trial?

I don't think the installer will work with a proxy either. I was never able to get it to install. After I purchased the software I was able to d/l a full installer and it worked fine.

I just also want to make sure that once purchased I do infact get access to tdn? I still am not able to access it. This would really be a bummer if I am not able to get on this. I also can't get into any of the non public forums. Can someone from GG take care of this please?

Once you purchase you get access to TDN :) Sorry for the present difficulties, we currently need to update TDN to allow anyone to access some of it's base pages, though the engine specific sections are still generally restricted to only those who own that engine license.

I've sent an email to the guys that can fix this for you, and hopefully it will be taken care of on Monday.

@Tim: Your account still for some reason isn't showing permissions for the forums, although it does show your purchase (I think we have a very hard to reproduce glitch in the purchasing from some link, we just haven't tracked it down yet).I've sent an email to the guys that can fix this for you, and hopefully it will be taken care of on Monday.
