MFC/MDI and all of its wickedness

by Ron Yacketta · in General Discussion · 04/13/2002 (7:27 am) · 3 replies

Folks,

I have been looking for a decent book to aid me in my learning of SDI/MDI and MFC.

Spent a good deal of time on fatbrain.com and amazon.com late late lastnight and was overwelmed by the amount of resources available on the subject mater at hand.

Can anyone recommend a decent book regarding MDI/SDI and MFC?

Regards,
Ron

I'm not at my normal workstation or I'd provide you with links, but it's actually quite easy to learn without any sort of book. Just start messing with stuff, and make ample use of google (google groups especially)

Despite what people say, MFC is quite straight forward and in my mind trivial.

I'd be careful with chosing MDI/SDI though ... SDI can be alot more versatile than you might initially think ;)

I learned a TON from "Practical Visual C++ 6" and highly recommend it.

The best book for this would be the Microsoft Press book "Programming Windows with MFC" by Jeff Prosise. It's to MFC what the Petzold book is to Win32.
