Do you know the parameters of your project? If so, then I would say that you should look at the current featureset, the planned additions to ATLAS and such and then make your project happen. If your project has some much needed integrated features that you are willing to donate, then do so and see what gets rolled in.

The design document is in working, but the principal game features are listed in a first roundup.
Several iterations will occur.
A major risk is an incompatible feature implemented in engine, these could be disastrous for a time to market approach.
The technology of TGE is old. Other options , like Dark Basic, Ogre, seems not pretty good idea.
Other engines are great, but expensive. One in particular was cheap but proposes a stupid "organic development"; the graphics were absurd, the sound was great, but the interest to protect the internal routines was idiot.
Then, I wait garagegames to complete TSE, at least milestone 3, to minimize a major risk in project.
I believe that the introduction of shadows and light will generate major new features in level design and level design tool, only.
The question is: is expected a major change in engine after milesone 3 ?
Thanks.

The only major changes remaining are with lighting and Atlas.

@Brian - What kind of shadow system are you putting in the engine? Is it what is listed in the engine specs on this site or do you have a different type of shadow system you will implement?

@Ivan - The best way to help is to submit bugs *with fixes*.

Now if you have some feature you need for your project that you can generalize enough that it could maybe be added to the TGE/TSE the best method for inclusion is to post it as a resource. Once you have your resource up you get sort of a community review of it, the feature fits within the plans of the GG team, and it is of high quality (bug free, well documented, uses Torque coding conventions, etc) then you have a high chance of seeing it included into the engine.

But again... it's not guaranteed.

If you show the dedication and contribute great resources, like many others you'll be offered associate status.
