Making a threaded drillbit?

I have cone like drill bit that I want to put threads on so it looks cool when animated lol okay so I want to know if there is a good way to do this I am tring to use a spring but the scaling part is a pain in the butt. any suggestions would be helpful.

Unless this drill is huge, id just do the threads in texture rather than having them be geometry.

Also, for future reference, art questions (especially modeling) are easier to give focused answers to if you mention what application you're using.

If u are using 3ds max there is a spline named a helix you can rap this around your drill bit and tell it to render with 3 sides to give it that sharp edge look and it should look like a drill bit

Oh yeah sorry, yeah 3ds max 8 I thought about doing it in the texture but I wanted to do it on the drill, oh well I cust made 3 spiral cuts around it and pulled one out, it looks okay.
