Ok. I'm clay that hasn't been formed yet so I haven't really set the theme.
this game changes with the season (like in the winter in snows and you are a snowman etc.) there can be random themes like Australia month etc.
but the plot is war between the countries. This is not Earth. There is no time setting (like its not medieval or present)
its not all about the war though. you can play the game as a merchant instead. you can run a peaceful country.
there can be free land to fight over as the game gets bigger. you can just chillax (chill) and play games at a coffee shop.
so, I would just like ideas right now.
Edit: more ideas. you can make your own flag you can have a revolution if you don't like the government.
you can be a pirate and take over ships. you can have bounties on peoples heads.

It sounds almost like a MMORPG that's just set during a war. The reason I say it's like an MMORPG is because you can kind of do whichever occupation you want instead of being involved with some central storyline.
If you don't generate enough content for the game, there won't be enough to do. What you basically have is 100 RPGs crammed into 1 because you're allowing people to choose different paths. I don't think it's practical for indies to give people alot of choice because it'll take you 10000 years to finish the game.
Personally, I would rather play an RPG that's more story-oriented anyways. I've played a few MMORPGs briefly, and wandering around collecting junk gets old fast. There's no reason to do anything, so I find myself just clicking on assorted objects to get whatever you get out of them.
