Glock and Mac10

by Max Thomas · in General Discussion · 06/10/2006 (10:00 am) · 43 replies

Hey guys,

I recently modeled, textures, animated, and made all the sounds necessary for a Glock and a Mac10 and made them all torque ready. I modeled them around the resource-

www.garagegames.com/index.php?sec=mg&mod=resource&page=view&qid=9846

so that there's a high detail weapon model with hands in first person view, but in third person view there is just a simple low poly weapon model with no arms and hands. I'm thinking about putting them up for sale, but before anything I figured I'd show them off to all of you just to see what the response would be.

I was going to directly post the images into here, but I just uploaded them somewhere else to spare GG's bandwith. :P

You can find links to 8 of the images, and two movies under this link.

Also just for the sake of it I threw the weapons into a mini game and uploaded it online, feel free to download it and see how they work and if they'd suit your game, I have a dedicated server running for it so feel free to join and mess around.

Well, response's would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Max

Thanks man.

I just want to figure out if it would be worth the while puting these models up for sale. I figure I took the time to make them, maybe some other people could put them to good use. :P

Errrr... you can't upload images to GG. If you have the images remotely hosted and being viewed in your forum post, that's not doing anything to GG's bandwidth.

I guess it depends on the method you would use to sell them and the price you would charge for them.

Aeron: Yeah, I was thinking something along the lines of turbosquid to sell them maybe, or another site along the same lines. I don't know, it still really depends on if any torque users will be able to use them in some form or another.

Paul: Heh, yeah I know.. I don't know exactly why I said that, seemed to make sense at that moment for some reason. :P

Max,

I don't have any current projects that could use them, but I'm interested in buying/licensing them anyway. They might come in handy for me one of these days. I'm already sold on the fun factor of these items -- but the price, and what's included in the package would be the deciding issues for me.

Hey Areon,

Well what I have at the moment to be thrown into the pack would be..

The 3d Max 6 files for the Glock, Mac10, and Shell Casing.
*.jpeg textures for all 3 models.
The *.CS files for the GLock, Mac10, and Blood.
The sound files for firing the weapon, and reloading, and no ammo.
All of the particle effects for the bullet impact, gun fire, and so on.
Plus a tutorial on how to hook everything together into a new build.

I'm pretty sure thats all... But I'm thinking about selling it all for 12 bucks per say?

Hey Max,

I'd be interested too. I've gotten so tangled up in some rather intensive CG stuff, that I just haven't had time to do even some basic script work and particle effects and anything that takes some of the load off my back would be great. I have some of what you've got going on incorporated in game, but not all of it, and it was kind of refreshing to just run around for a second, shooting stuff and not stressed about framerates, weird reflections, or anything like that. If you market it, let me know. The price you have going there would be fine.

Hey Alan and Midhir,

I think I'll put it all up online for sale tomorrow when I get the chance, I'll drop the link here when I get it all ready to go.

If these end up going over well I might make a few more when I get the chance, AK47, Colt .45, M1A4, Famas, Desert Eagle, Mp5 and maybe a few more, who knows really. Think they could be of use?

Max,

That sounds like a good deal. I don't have 3ds Max, but I think I can convert everything if I need to. I'm not a FPS guy by nature so the CS files and instructions will be a big help to me.

By the way, what do you think the licensing will be on these -- one licence per project or one licence for unlimited projects. Just curious.

Thanks,

Aaron E.

Hi ,
i love the example game you put here , the weapons and impacts look very cool.
But shouldnt you handle the mousemovement on the clientside to avoid mouse lag.

Hey guys,

Aaron: Licence wise I'd have to say that once you buy it, feel free to use it in as many projects as you want. Also, naturally the download also includes the *.dts files for the weapons and shell casing so you don't have to export if all out of 3d Max before you can do anything.

Bryce: Haha yeah, I mean M4a1.. Thanks for correcting me. I'll fire you an email when I get the chance today or tomorrow.

Robin: Thank you! But yeah, might be a good idea to handle the mouse movement on the clientside to avoid mouse lag, I didn't really toutch any of that stuff, more of just added what I needed to onto a clean build without any optimizing.

Max,

Cool. I guess I'm ready to buy then. Once you post a purchase site link . . . I'm there. :)

After applying C2's code change and following your pack instructions, everything worked great.

Thanks again.
