I dont know how many people in Ontario and quebec or for that matter any other part of canada there are that read and use this site or other game developing sites.
But if any one would like to get togther to see what other are working and maybe make some other indie contacts. Post here and if we can get at least a few people interested then we can try set somthing up.

AITO is either the Art Institute of Toronto or Amnesty International Toronto Organization.
I'm going to go with the former :-)

Yes AITO is the former, to quote asmaloney :-). We're at 655 Bay Street in Toronto. Everyone is invited to pop in at lunch times if you happen to foozling by and ask for me at the main desk on the 2nd floor. If my schedule allows, I can give you the cook's tour and maybe grab a coffee in the Fresh Start downstairs.
Sam is right, this weekend is too soon to organize something "official". But later in September would work.

@Leapster: Mostly I'd be interested in meeting some peers in person over a pint or something, rather than something formal. Talking about our projects, cool things people are doing, that kind of thing.

Very cool. I live in the GTA as well :) I work in Web but like to hobby with Torque when I find time.
It would be great to have a casual meeting to just sorta connect a bit. Please contact me if any one want to get together to share, take, and commiserate about making games. I say we all raid Ken Finney's offices one day! LOL

One day, they asked me if they could go with the students to the dollar store, just up the block during break. I gave them each a loonie and said "sure". When I got back from break I heard odd noises down the hall as I came through the security doors. When I got to the lab, I discovered a full-blown firefight in progress. Half the class was at one end of the lab, a few at the other and they laying the smack down on each other with those air guns that fire the little yellow soft rubber bullets (hollow rubber-plastic, not Nerf).
Holy Cow! Just as I was about to start hollering at them, a squad of coffee ninjas (that's what they called themselves) busted through the lounge outside the lab from the opposite direction I had come from, flash banged the lab with a roll of toilet paper, and treated me to the wrong end of a high-risk takedown.
Everyone was armed with at least an smg of some kind, a few baby m4 thingies, and pistols. Oh yeah, and a mini-shotgun. Plastic bullets were everywhere. "Thank god we're not on the main floor" I thought. "The President will kill me, never mind the Dean".
The next day, while going to get my attendence book, I saw her, the President, coming the other way in the main lobby. I said hi.
"Hi Ken, listen, are you okay?"
"Um, yeah, I'm fine,...??"
"That didn't hurt when they pulled you to the floor like that...?"
"Ummm, no. You saw that?"
"Yup."
Wink. And off she went.

Heh. During the summer months, my boys came to class with me every day. Sometimes they sat in the back of the lecture room and played online games. For some lectures, I'd turn around and find them sitting at the front, paying very close attention. They were always handy for filling out sides in multiplayer team games :-)One day, they asked me if they could go with the students to the dollar store, just up the block during break.
