RTS conversion progress

by William Fox · in RTS Starter Kit · 05/05/2006 (9:10 am) · 2 replies

Actually my project only uses multi unit control features
and the reason for the RTS purchase to look at the demo
but I have become obsessed by making a pure 1.4 conversion

the learning experiance alone is needed im new to Visual C++
my experiance is usually machine code or older C++ dev version from
microsoft .. ya know the huge box of floppies version ?
from win 3.1 days when games were less visually stunning then todays
products because of many issues including hardware

I am surprised at how fast I am growing in knowledge of the TGE
configuration and setup
and in the usage of the VC Express Edition compiler
can't wait to grind away at some more fundamental changes
like a making a new terrain tool set that actually works IN GAME

my son tells me that my projected setup should not be a problem
but his schooling and work have delayed our work so i am
going to finish the RTS conversion learn a few more things
and may start without him :)

I know the lobbying doesnt work. ;)

Do a WinDiff on the 1.4 common folder and the 1.3 RTS common folder... (I havent myself, I've more pressing issues... Like PathFinding)...

If we pull together, we could do a community build of 1.4 w/ RTS. =)

I have the modded map (with circular FOG -o- WAR). -- Thnx to someone's post.

We need terrain Fog-o-War. (I have some ideas... And I know where it should go!)

I have build areas working... to a degree! =) (They render on terrain.)
