Wheeled Vehicle parameters

I have been messing with a wheeled vehicle and I need to set it up so that if I run into another vehicle it will slide upon the initial impact. Kind of like when a car runs into another car, unless it is head on, it will pivot around its center of mass. It will instantaneously lose friction with the ground, slide, and come to rest in a new position. Right now I have a vehicle that when it strikes another vehicle of the same mass the moving vehicle will either bounce off or impact in some way, but not even budge the stationary vehicle. I tried increasing speed, but this did not help. In fact too fast and it goes right through on some occasions. Could be a collision mesh issue though for that.
