How is TGE's network/multiplayer support? (pre-sales question)

by John Klimek · in Torque Game Engine · 04/29/2006 (3:11 pm) · 2 replies

Right now I own TGB (Torque 2D Game Builder) and it doesn't seem to have very good networking/multiplayer support...

So, I'm wondering about TGE's networking/multiplayer support. How good is it? Does the engine automatically handle all player network sync issues?

Also, does TGE support line-of-sight? For example, if I make an FPS type of game where I want to check which players another player can see, would I be able to do that? (for example, I'd like to make a game where players need to actually see another player kill somebody to report them to police....)

TGE's networking is probably the best part of the engine. Heck that's why they sell it as a standalone product outside the engine. And yes it has support for LOS checks built in.

Torque's multiplayer networking works well right out of the box.

Download the demo yourself and run a multiplayer server.
